In Contempt of City Council

As part of the requirement to govern, government is obligated to protect the innocent, the law abiding, the citizen from crime and corruption, to act swiftly upon it wherever it is found and to ensure there are no circumstances that would cause it to rise again. In light of the recent events in Kiev, when Ukraine’s version of Rob Ford at its national level was removed from power after months of protest that ended in violence and bloodshed, one wonders why on earth no such thing has been happening in the streets of Ottawa or the District of Colombia. There has been a lull for a number of weeks over the halls of power in the City Council. If anyone is at fault for keeping our dear mayor in power despite the series of scandals he’s been embroiled in, it’s City Council. They didn’t go far enough when they decided to merely remove his powers and transfer them to the office of the Deputy Mayor. They didn’t go far enough in light of the fact that he not only repeatedly lied to the public about his drug habit, which does affect his performance and demonstrates his irresponsibility as our chief magistrate, but his attempt to cover up the existence of a video smoking crack cocaine. If this had happened in the United States, the majority of councillors would’ve lost their seats either within a few days via recall, or after the next election, surrounding a media frenzy, for merely removing the mayor’s powers. Why would they want to keep a crackhead in office? Some of them say it’s democracy. I say it’s not democracy, but mob rule.

We the Canadians, who absurdly place more value on civility than on justice, along with a shabby education system, rely heavily, if not solely, on the honour system that we’ve adapted from our British masters, where we must blindly trust people in power to do the right thing, to rehabilitate the corrupt rather than punish them and remove them from office, in exchange for forfeiting our right to criticize them, even insult and abuse them.

As the fiasco at the City Hall of Hogtown enters another quiet period, and the police continue to investigate our chief executive, with some locals speculating that he might be behind the murder of one of the members of organized crime that was with him when the chilling photo of them in front of the crack house was taken, one must ask the question why the hell is this man still in office? Any decent country or town would’ve ousted their chief executive faster than one would exhale, ongoing police investigation or not. While people in the same province that never raised a fit over a “secret law” that was imposed on the province in 2010, without the consent, debate, or even oversight of the Ontario’s Legislature, city council had at least stripped Ford of his powers and delegated them to the Deputy Mayor, yet turned our rotund chief magistrate into a living irony by making him a figurehead that does nothing but collects his paycheque, much to the disappointment of Ford and his band of degenerate lapdogs that make up “Ford Nation”.

The problem is, of course, our council’s weakness and inability to go further than

City Council has been lukewarm and half-hearted in their actions to make the chief executive of our fair city more accountable by merely removing his powers yet for some reason want to keep him in office.

Mediocrity is the Mantra or Fuck You, Tom Freda

Canadians are mediocre people with mediocre ambitions who put mediocre efforts into mediocre causes. Take, for example, Tom Freda’s supposed fight against merely an oath to the Queen … for newcomers to Canada.

Today, the Ontario Superior Court ruled that forcing immigrants to Canada to swear an oath to the Queen is constitutional, even if it violated their free speech rights.

Nevermind, you know, actually severing ties with Britain and establishing a republican form of government that works. Nevermind pummelling royalists at every corner of every street and every building. Nevermind radicalizing Canadians against such an evil institution. Nevermind trying to propagate why monarchy is evil and should be destroyed as swiftly as possible. Nevermind trying to explain why a republic (specifically of a constitutional democratic secular form) is the greatest form of government human beings has ever conceived. And as lame as it is, nevermind changing the oath for ALL Canadians who enter into any public office. No. Tom Freda and Roach decided to dedicate years and money to engage in a selfish, mediocre endeavour designed solely to appease only new Canadians who don’t like the monarchy.

I’m sorry, but I’m a natural-born citizen of this country who himself is non-white, who grew up in two provinces, and I absolutely hate the monarchy, because it is an absolutely evil institution that must be destroyed. Yet my ambitions are far higher than Freda’s, or his CCR organization. The ambitions of them are so utterly weak that it would’ve been defeated by a fly between the two in a boxing match. So much time and money wasted on a useless endeavour that was doomed to fail to begin with. We should be better than this. Your ambitions should be far higher, and should be inclusive of all Canadians. But it wasn’t. Instead, the CCR, which has an official position of what kind of republic Canada they want, has colluded with royalists, and has a history of outing or purging “radicals”, decided to pretend to represent only republicans from other countries who come here. Not challenge the status quo. Not try to challenge Canadian’s who fear the concept of an executive that has real power and is able to counter the abuses of the legislature and the judiciary, and vice versa. Not to wage total war against the monarchy and the monarchists, to try and drive some away and others to convert to republicanism. Not to continuously insult and piss off the monarchy and monarchists, both of whom are evil and stupid and irrational.

We’ve got to do better than this, people! Enough! Our country cannot remain as a weak, divided, poor country that stands on fake pride and a dead, diseased system that has been nothing but problems. The idea that a constitutional monarchy is best is wrong. We don’t control nor own the head of state. We’re not a colony and we shouldn’t be colony. Instead, we the Canadians must, as quickly as possible, sever all political ties to Great Britain and the British crown, absolve ourselves of our allegiances to the Crown, and establish for a time a provisional constituent assembly composed of the brightest minds of the country that are not affiliated with any political party to draft a new constitution that would establish Canada as a democratic secular republic with the intent of government being to act in the name and interests of the people, to protect their rights and to provide for their security and welfare. We can’t rely on Parliament to do that. The elected elites in this country now, federally and provincially, in every political party, are not interested in representing the people, in exerting their will and catering to their interests, but in self-preservation. They would also want to keep a system of government where the executive doesn’t wield any power that would counter an abusive legislature. Nor should we use parliament as a legislature in our future republic, because it is unstable, undemocratic and unreliable in a republican system.

In the last fifteen years, we’ve witnessed a great example of the errors of having both a presidential system, where the president is both head of state and of government, and a parliamentary system, where the president is neither, in one of the most powerful and culturally significant nations on earth since Rome: the United States. The former was helmed by the manifestly incompetent George Bush, who ravaged the Bill of Rights, ruined the economy, committed various war crimes, and other heinous acts that have, since 9-11, utterly ruined the country and the world, acting like an elected monarchy. The latter is helmed by the manifestly weak and incompetent Obama, who lied his way into office, only to continue the actions of his predecessor, on top of constantly capitulating to the right-wing who hate him because he’s black, and allowed the restoration of neo-Jim Crow Laws in the states and of the replacement of a republican form of government with a puppet show run by the corporations at the expense of the worker. Obama has, to quote the documentary Class War by Class War Films, “singlehandedly destroyed belief in our political system than any previous combination of the hustlers and phoneys who were his immediate predecessors.” He acts like a rubber-stamping puppet, with the occasional veto but on minor issues. These are the dangers of having a presidential system of republic or a parliamentary system of republic.

For Canada, it should be something balanced. A congressional legislature and a divided executive of moderate power. Strong enough to be able to counter the abuses of the legislature and to act quickly, efficiently and effectively in times of emergency, but weak enough to ensure the legislature is able to counter its abuses.

There will be, without doubt, times when we’ve elected the wrong guy, who is either an aspiring monarch or an unprincipled non-entity. The point of a democracy, and of term limits, is not only to be able to choose our governments but also to change them, so that in the face of blunders, errors or catastrophes by one face, the ability of people to elect a new face gives us the opportunity, the chance to do things better, to change things, to undo and reverse the damage done by their predecessor, to change our leaders for the better. Even after Obama, who is serving his second and final term, there is that opportunity.

But for the Americans, not for us. We, the Canadians, are forced to accept whoever assumes the throne, without our consent, while we indirectly elect our prime minister by giving a political party a majority in the legislature. There are no term limits, even for party leaders. Elections are called whenever Parliament feels like it, and some MPs have unfair influence in the executive branch by becoming Premier or Prime Minister.

Yet the royalists, forever in their drive to destroy the right of the people to govern themselves, will always use the myth of a demagogue with absolute power (completely ignoring the point of democracy … and of a legislature … and a constitution) and the myth of Hitler getting elected (when he in fact wasn’t elected President of Germany but appointed Chancellor … which happens to be … a Prime Minister) to dismiss and discredit democracy and the concept of a republican form of government. There do exists countries that are only republics in name only. Pol Pot wasn’t head of state … but Prime Minister.

Hmmmmmm … Mussolini was Prime Minister. Hitler was Prime Minister. Pol Pot was Prime Minister. Is it just me … or is there a pattern here?

DOWN GOES SUNTV! DOWN GOES SUNTV!

Today is a glorious day in Canadian history as the CRTC denied the northern bastard son of Fox News, the Sun News Network, mandatory carriage for basic cable.

Decent Canadians celebrated after months of speculation and complaints against the TV trash network that spewed tabloid garbage and royalist propaganda equivalent to, as the former, a TV version of Der Stürmer and, as the latter, North Korean exaltation of its own Dear Leader and Eternal President respectively that is now one short of a trinity.

It certainly didn’t help when that fat-assed raving smear-monkey Ezra Levant, who has ultraviolent sexual fantasies of mass murdering every single ethnic, religious and sexual minority under the sun and shade and possibly has ties to neo-Nazis and royalists, colluded with a member from the Harper Cabinet on air to incite hatred and violence against the Roma folk, then pretended to apologize for his raving lunacy. The vile little shit’s been in trouble before, when he wrote an incendiary and inflammatory smear peace against George Soros, who then threatened to sue Levant and the SUN tabloids, to which they did the Canadian thing of cutting, running away, and apologizing to Soros. Soros should’ve sued anyways so that that nomenclatural rip-off of the British tabloid paper would’ve sunk, and Levant would have to live with a wound.

Now give us a few more months before the Sun News Network goes out of business from all the advertising dollars it’s been losing, and hopefully leaves conservatives and the likes of Tom Freda, an ardent centrist and militant sell-out, pissing tears and on their knees. A special thanks to all the Canadians who wrote to the CRTC to give them a piece of their minds. This is WAY better than the hate speech laws.

Saskatoon: Earth’s Anus

In recent news, an ugliness has once more resurfaced in the so-called Paris of the Prairies. Joni Mitchell rightfully called out Saskatoon for what it is: extremely bigoted, a place from the deep south. And she’s absolutely right. If Windsor is “earth’s rectum,” then Saskatoon is earth’s anus.

I and a friend of mine used to live there. He and I didn’t know each other back then, but moved to greener pastures around the same time. His name, of course, is Mik. Mik was, in Saskatoon, a struggling filmmaker who had few to no friends and many enemies that preyed upon him due to his non-white ethnic makeup. He was, of course, inspired to work on an epic first film that, to this day, has remained unfinished. It was about bullying, and it was set in Saskatoon. Mik wanted to use local talent, local workers, and local resources, albeit a few from outside the City, to make it. The problem was he was also alone and had few friends and many enemies.

Five years ago, he was subjected to wrongful accusations, wrongful arrests, and wrongful convictions, with his accusers slandering Mik’s “mental illness” and “behavioural problems” in order to discredit him, and the incompetent police, the psychiatric doctors, and the useless, treacherous lawyers (one of whom was manifestly mentally ill) and his own treacherous, controlling granny who has been abusing him psychologically since birth. Two of the accusers were two former friends of his. One of the accusers he was trying to reach peaceful terms with. But because people didn’t think, didn’t care, didn’t read evidence, didn’t ask him any goddamn questions and essentially didn’t do their jobs, he was fucked. Even after the unjust thirty-day time limit to file an appeal which was delayed because of meddling by his granny who refused to do simple tasks while Mik was reeling from psychological deterioration in spite of leaving prison, which made the aftermath of his psychological collapse even worse. Now he’s considering suicide after five years of attempting to file an appeal, and several more months wasted trying to sue the vermin that screwed him. The ever manipulative, fraudulent control freak and sufferer of biased assimilation (the tendency to accept information that confirms one’s prior belief) Peter Garden was among the scum that screwed Mik in the ass by selling him out  to the cops over a flier that was calling for an investigation into the abusive behaviour of a specific police officer, just because one of the people that worked with him found it insulting. In other words, Peter Garden attempted to lay false accusations against an innocent person because he doesn’t like it when the local police forces are insulted, despite being the owner of a book store that caters to the Left and is falsely claiming to fight for change.

Even before this, Mik was royally screwed in every way. His friends were lukewarm at best. The discrimination is very, very subtle, wrapped up on purple oratory. Even the hippies and the goths are like that, with a very deep south, very small town mentality, with everyone knowing each other. Joni Mitchell was spot-on.

Monarchists Are Idiots

Monarchists, like fascists and every other branch of conservatism and centrism, are complete and utter idiots and crazy people. They literally believe in the idea that monarchs are free from corruption simply on the propagandistic garbage they’re fed by the very institution willing to manipulate public opinion to support it. Anyone who adores, admires or loves monarchy is either blind, stupid, crazy, or evil. They hate the idea of the people governing themselves, because they themselves have this slave-master mentality. They not only want to be blindingly obedient to the most frivilous, pettiest, or irrational whims of their rulers, but also want to chain others.

Monarchists are naturally secluded from the rest of the world save for the internet, where they can spread their poison. They’re members of a personality cult, far worse than a celebrity fan club, who deify their ruler, one imposed on them by a deity, without consent of the governed. They want to kill democracy, yet ironically, they are trying to gain public support so that they can kill it with thunderous applause.

Monarchists have blind and total distrust in the election process to such a degree, that anyone elected is an enemy, regardless of their talents, gifts, ideas, merit or contribution. They cling to this myth about such things can be hereditary, that the people should not only have a say in who should govern them, but be forced to accept their rulers blindingly, even in the face of glaring mistakes that politicians make. When a politician makes a mistake, it’s a crime, and they’re thrown out of office or lose the next election. They don’t like that. They don’t like it when the people have a say in who their representatives are, and they don’t like it when authority figures can be thrown out, or shown “disrespect.” Monarchists literally want to murder, torture, intimidate, harass and abuse anyone who has any differences of opinion, or who shows disrespect towards their favorite celebrity, or to anyone authority, or to “traditional values,” which rob the people blind of their right to govern themselves, even at the executive level. “Traditional values” are not reasonable, rational, or logical values.

Monarchists are, to borrow Gore Vidal’s description of Ayn Rand’s followers, simple folk who are easily puzzled by organized society, who hate taxes, who hate the idea of a welfare state. They don’t want their money to be given to an elected government that is obligated to use it for public purposes, but to an unelected government to use as it pleases regardless of the welfare of the people.

Monarchists are a vicious cancer, and should be rooted out, gutted out, cut out and cast out from the national body, so that they don’t molest a free people, nor seek to enslave them. However moderate, they should never be trusted by even the most moderate of republicans.

As for Canadian monarchists, they think that there’s no French people when they talk about “history” or “heritage.” They think that we should sacrifice true independence, and the right of the people to choose their head of state, in the name of “tradition” or “heritage” or “history”, that democracy is merely an American invention. They’re angry at the Americans not because of 1812, which was over the occupation by American forces that wanted to redress grievances with the British, but because the Americans fought and won their independence from the British Crown; monarchists in Canada are angry at them because a people, once private property of the Crown, rebelled and won their independence. Their excuses are, while numerous, baseless, absurd and ridiculous. They don’t realize that under the British monarchy, this pretend state called Canada has in fact been heavily Americanized, yet they revere an object like the British Crown as some idol of worship, and falsely claims it keeps us Canadian. They see French and Native people as mere trophies of conquest, and are only angry at them because, apart from their differences in ethnicity and language, stand up for themselves and are fiercely independent, while the Canadian monarchist disguises his servitude with fake patriotism and empty lip service to democracy and freedom, yet not equality. Finally, the Canadian monarchist literally believes that the British Empire was founded through peace and love.

Pat Martin is … Someone’s Hero

UPDATE: It wasn’t for long until I found out that Pat was merely proposing a change in the Oath to the monarchy, and commented about the Old Whore’s “service.” You know, the one that she inherited, by blood, without consent of Canadians, and that we’re forced to live under it over a variety of dubious excuses that pander to history, xenophobia, backward traditional values, and other garbage.

This is what happens when you only read the headlines. *facepalm*

EARLIER: Pat Martin, the MP from Winnipeg, today called for the severing of ties to the British Monarchy.
This man is awesome. He’s been vitriolic against the Cons and other MPs for years.
For me, though, the only problem is that he’s trying to use the system against itself, which doesn’t always work. In fact, parliament, despite its uselessness, does not care about popular consent. In order to establish a new system, you must first sweep the old system aside. New Constitution, new form of legislature, and an effective, elected head of state that can counter an abusive legislature, apart from elections. But it’s a start.

Keep at it, Pat!

Games Lefties Play

Despite the title of this post, let’s get one thing straight: I’m of the left. I am a leftist. I am of the far-left. I am left wing. I am also democratic, which just so happens to be a left-wing idea. I am not a communist or anarchist, nor do I support the systems of anarchy or communism. I believe that government is necessary and fundamental to keep people from hurting each other, and to provide for the common good of all. People want to live freely and happily.

I live in Canada, which is predominantly a culturally left-leaning “country”. But I somewhat identify myself with the left here because there’s some ideas that the majority of leftists support while I object. The most glaring of these is, of course, the monarchy. Almost all leftists in Canada either don’t care about it, are royalist by default, royalist by ignorance, or, like Pierre Trudeau, would want to merely hide it. Only a handful of leftists want Canada to become a republic, yet even here there’s troublesome members of this group. Unlike myself, I am not a communist, nor do I believe in conspiracy theories like Canadian Action Party members do. And finally, I am of the extreme minority, probably of six people who think that the reason a republic is better than a monarchy goes far beyond just fiscal benefits and chronological relevance.

While I agree with a vast majority of leftist ideas, I also equally despise the vast majority of Canadian leftists, majority of whom support monarchy in one way or another. We all know that monarchists aren’t that bright. The majority of leftists use the typical royalist excuses as justification to retaining what is inherently and manifestly undemocratic, unequal and unfree. Power in a monarchy, however powerless it may seem to be, is inherited by blood, regardless of public opinion, unlike a republic where power is earned by ballot, regardless of blood. However democratic or free a society may seem to be under a monarchy, it is not free enough because no one can be free to elect or be elected head of state of their own country. Monarchy is the very antithesis to the principals of the left in general, which are liberty and equality for all. The excuses to have a monarchy are vast and various, yet every single one of them is wrong, and all of them are so morally repugnant and outrageously ridiculous that the very stench of their absurdness outreeks even the most foul of stenches. Of course, then again, the vast majority of Canadians have merely experienced a constitutional monarchy and cannot envision anything else beyond it. Their ignorance of government systems is rather staggering, and gives the conservatives an edge against us because they exploit it and reinforce it. Plus they have money, a fundamental and necessary tool the left, alas, shuns and rejects.

Reason Why Canada Should Abolish the Monarchy #6748

I am so tired of the pathetic excuses conjured by the royalist filth to preserve this vile institution. Among these, of course, is the concept that the monarchy is non-partisan, since we’re somehow too inferior to tolerate or overcome or even take advantage of politics for the better good. There is no possibility that any human being would be remotely politically non-partisan. The best example, of course, is the awarding of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee medals to a couple of verminous scumbags who are against the women’s right to choose life or abortion. CBC comments on the article have been rather vitriolic, yet only few have ever addressed the rancid reality of monarchy to a hoard of idiots that infect the website of the government-owned broadcasting company.

Freedom from Freda

How Tom Freda Failed the Republican Movement

Tom Freda established Citizens for a Canadian Republic in 2002, thirty-two-years too late after the Monarchist League of Canada was founded in 1970. From the start, Freda was attempting to reach out to republicans, but he was also trying to concentrate power into his own hands, perhaps due to harassment by members of the ML, as well as the Orange Order and other royalist, anti-democracy groups that have gained a stranglehold. So far, his accomplishments have been allowing the Canadian government to strengthen the monarchy since he’s mainly focused on the oath of citizenship, and because he is so intolerant to other voices and stronger fighters that he would even help the royalists by “purging” them from his group, exposing them who they are, and even labelled them as “extremists” and even “royalists.”

The Monarchist League, of course, has become one of the most influential political organizations in Canada, and its members include MPs and Senators and other holders of government office, provincially and nationally. The League was founded by Irish-born pedophile John Aimers, who wasn’t even born in Canada (yet likes to meddle in the affairs of other foreign powers as much as he does young boys) as an overreaction to Pierre Trudeau’s attempts to hide the monarchy very slowly (While some say Trudeau was a closeted republican, I say that he was muddled, and did a shitty job trying to establish Canada as a republic, if he was even actually trying). While there were only allegations of pedophilia made against Aimers during his tenure at Selwyn House School, he was never investigated, perhaps because of some meddling by his beloved League. Bribes? Intimidation? Influence peddling? No one knows, but then again, Canada has a history of letting pedophiles in power, alleged and real, get away with their crimes. Aimers is both a citizen of Canada and the United States, the latter of which happens to be a republic.

Yet despite Aimers’ colourful history and the control of the government from the local to provincial level, the republican movement has been dragging its ass due to the uncharismatic dictatorship leadership of Mr. Freda, whose lack of charisma may be due to his 30-year profession as a stock photographer and ten years as a technical writer, as he explains in his unfunny biography. Mr. Freda’s group has also held only few protests, yet stopped out of fear of attracting extremists and offending people, and has gone out of his way to emerge only when the monarchy comes into the view of the media. It seems that Mr. Freeda is more concerned about trying not to offend people than about being right. He is the self-appointed representative of all republicans, and denounces those who question, challenge or damn his leadership as a disgrace to the entire movement.

While there have been successful attempts at creating other groups, they suffered from the same stagnation and lack of motivation of its members and leadership as Freda’s organization, usually without a set goal.

You’re a disgrace, Freda. How far have we come? Harper restored the prefix of Royal to the Canadian army, navy and air force, and ordered the Queen’s portrait to be put up in all embassies of Canada, while you’re wasting time on a fucking oath. You’re so ashamed of your concept that you mush your words to hide your views.
